Charity Work

The Two Rivers Bands are formally registered as a charity – the Ilkley and North Bradford Band Association (#1153520). Our main income comes from members’ subscriptions, the payments we sometimes receive for performing and ticket sales for our popular Swing Band Dances.

But one of the most important and satisfying things that we do is to raise funds for other charities that members want to support: one international, one national and one local. These are currently

Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders), the international humanitarian relief organisation which delivers medical care where the need is greatest, anywhere in the world

The Sick Childrens Trust, a national charity which provides free, high-quality ‘Home from Home’ accommodation, as well as emotional and practical support, to families with sick children in hospital

Clothing Solutions for Disabled People. a small Bradford based charity which aims to understand and meet the clothing needs of disabled people.

In the 12 months up to the end of August 2017, we raised an impressive total of £2,348.35 by holding charity concerts and organising collections at our bandstand performances. Our donations included £1,325 to MSF and £770 to the Sick Childrens Trust.

We’re proud to be able to do something to help people in need at the same time as entertaining audiences and enjoying making music together.
