Our Charity Work

The Two Rivers Bands are a registered charity – the Ilkley and North Bradford Band Association (#1153520).
Our main income comes from members’ subscriptions, payments we receive for performing and ticket sales for our concerts and dances.

One of the most important and satisfying things that we do is to raise funds for other charities that members want to support
,
In 2022-3 we raised £693.65 and in 2021-22 we raised £1389,12 for three excellent causes: Médecins Sans Frontières; the Alzheimer's Society; and Bradford Central Foodbank. This was done mainly through collections at concerts and bandstand performances.

The Manager of Bradford Central Foodbank writes

"Please pass on our huge thanks to all the members who have raised funds for us over the last 3 years! So much effort has gone into helping us feed thousands of people in Bradford who would have gone hungry. So please hear a massive thank you!
By my records I make the total £3141 since September 2020. So this is simply wonderful!
We have so appreciated everyone’s efforts from playing in the band, busking, playing at Foodbank over Christmas time and baking cakes and goodies to raise funds. So much care and hours of time that your members have given so that other families can put meals on the table in their hour of need. Thank you"

We have now decided to concentrate our efforts on raising funds for a single local charity.
In a poll in May 2024, members voted to support The Swan Song Project which gives people living with terminal illnesses, dealing with bereavement or planning their end stages of life the opportunity and support to write and record their own original song.
