Concert Band Winter Concert 2021 Highlights
Our 2021 Concert Band Winter Concert was held at All Saints Church in Ilkley on 11th December.

It was our first live concert since December 2019 and it was a big success.
37 musicians played in the Band, showing how well we have managed to maintain the enthusiasm and commitment of our members in spite of the pandemic.
The audience was very supportive and our charity collection raised over £200 for Médecins Sans Frontières.

We recorded the whole concert, using our new portable sound recorder, bought with a generous grant from Ilkley Town Council.

We produced this film of concert highlights for people to enjoy at home.

We are particularly keen to make this available to people who find it hard to get out to concerts and to hear live amateur music particularly including those who are housebound ; those isolating because of Covid risk; and residents of Care Homes and Nursing Homes.

    We hope you enjoy it.

We are grateful to Barbara Galtress and David Autumns for their excellent concert photos.

  • Folk Songs of England (CB&SB)
  •  Date Posted: Mon, 18 Jan 2021
After successfully performing an Irish Suite in concert the Flute players of the Two Rivers Concert have followed this up with a Suite of English Folk Tunes.
There are Solos and Duets highlighting some of the most famous, and less well known, folk tunes from this country. Some have been taken from the John Playford collection, most notably Portsmouth which was a huge hit for Mike Oldfield in the 70s.
Greensleeves, The Rose of Allendale, The Bear Dance, Here’s Over the hills, Newcastle, The Wraggle Taggle Gypsies, A Roving, Lincolnshire Poacher, Wilson’s Wilde, Hunt the Squirrel, Blow Away the Morning Dew, Portsmouth
Some may argue the odd one is not English but we have given them honorary status for this suite.
Members of the Flute section are Alison, Angela, David, Gunilla, Jane, Janice, Lynette and Toni.
